Hidden Valley
Golf Course

Play the course that flows with the James River
The Hidden Valley course highlights include dramatic undulations, a natural rugged appearance and bold bunkering – while the rough areas around the tees and bunkers are a mix of native grasses which naturally frame each hole. The greens are perhaps its signature feature and for decades have consistently provided the finest putting surfaces in Missouri.
Hidden Valley Hole-By-Hole
1st Hole
A welcoming start with a wide fairway that invites confidence, but OB waits on both sides. Your round begins with a carry over the pond from the tee, setting up a wedge or short iron to a green guarded by front bunkers and thick rough. A fair, honest opener—play it well and you’ll step to the second tee with momentum.

2nd Hole
Tree-lined on both sides, this straight par 4 rewards accuracy over power. OB runs tight left, while a hazard with water and tall grass lurks right. A precise tee shot leaves a short approach to a long, slender green where subtle breaks can turn an easy birdie look into a knee-knocker. Smart placement off the tee is the difference between attacking the flag and scrambling for par.

3rd Hole
A picturesque downhill short hole with the James River flowing just beyond the green. The safe shot is to the center, but tucked pins tempt the bold to flirt with trouble. Short grass fronts the green and right side, making recovery straightforward, but miss long and you’ll be fishing. The swirling wind off the river makes club choice a puzzle, adding to the charm—and challenge—of this scenic par 3.

4th Hole
A sharp dogleg right with OB left and trees crowding both sides. Lay up to the corner for a clean approach, or cut the corner for a chance at glory—and maybe a birdie. The green is well-bunkered and slopes back to front. This is the site of Stephen Huxley’s rare par-4 ace, a feat that helped inspire his dream of owning the course.

5th Hole
An uphill test over water that punishes mishits. Trees guard the left, OB lines the right, but a slope can kick slightly errant shots back toward the green. The putting surface is long and mostly flat, with subtle breaks toward the river. Solid contact is key here—miss short and you’re wet, miss long and you’re chipping back onto the dance floor.

6th Hole
A short par 5 with a sharp dogleg right that demands a well-placed tee shot. Hazards guard the right, trees crowd the left, and cutting the corner without a perfect fade can leave you blocked. Find the middle and you’ll have a good look at birdie before stepping up to the course’s toughest challenge on the next hole.

7th Hole
The number one handicap hole and a true test. Long and narrow, with OB and trees tight on both sides and a creek running the length of the right. A straight, solid drive is essential for any chance at hitting the well-protected green in regulation. Make par here and you’ve earned bragging rights.

8th Hole
One of the most scenic walks on the course begins with a bridge over a stream before a dogleg par 4 with OB both sides. Hit the fairway and you’re set up for a mid-iron to a green guarded by a bunker left, rough behind, and OB hugging the right edge. Subtle green slopes keep you honest with the putter.

9th Hole
A great chance to finish the front nine strong. Lay up short of the pond for safety or try to fly it for a shorter second. Big hitters can reach in two, but bunkers on the front corners and slopes on the left protect the green. Trees behind and to the sides make distance control key.

10th Hole
A demanding start to the back nine from an elevated tee to a tight fairway. The safe play is short of the creek, leaving a longer approach; big hitters can try the carry for a wedge in, but the margin for error is slim. The hole doglegs right to a spacious green, but reaching it in regulation requires precision from start to finish.

11th Hole
A 200-yard beauty framed by trees with a pond and fountain fronting the green. The tee shot must thread a narrow gap before carrying the water. Bunkers guard the front corners, and a stream wraps around the right and back. The large, fairly level green rewards finding the surface with a birdie look—but getting there is the challenge.

12th Hole
The James River runs along the right from tee to green, making this hole as beautiful as it is dangerous. A strong drive that shapes right-to-left can open the door for reaching in two, but most will lay up. A bunker left protects the green, and the undulating surface demands a careful read. The river views are stunning—but keep your ball dry.

13th Hole
Wide off the tee but with a massive bunker in the middle of the landing area. Pick your side carefully—trees on both flanks can still cause trouble. The approach is guarded by a pond left and bunkers on both sides. The large green offers gentle slopes, rewarding smart play over reckless pin-hunting.

14th Hole
A generous fairway and reachable yardage make this a prime scoring hole. A pond lurks left, and trees line both sides, but there’s room to swing freely. The green is long and undulating, with bunkers guarding the front and sides. Birdie—or even eagle—is very much on the table.

15th Hole
Short but tight, with the river and OB to the right and dense trees to the left. Keep it in play off the tee and you’ll have a short approach to a green without bunkers but with tricky breaks. The view of the bluffs and rock shelves along the river is worth the pause before you putt.

16th Hole
Played from an elevated tee over a large pond, this par 3 demands a clean strike. A bunker guards the right, while trees squeeze in from the left. The green slopes back to front, making shots below the hole your best bet for an easy putt.

17th Hole
A long, tree-lined par 5 with a pond and an old willow guarding the left. Big hitters can try for the green in two; most will lay up to wedge range. A deep bunker right of the green catches over-ambitious approaches. A birdie here sets the stage for a strong finish.

18th Hole
The closer offers a wide fairway but a narrow window off the tee over water. Trees left, more water right, and a historic barn that can be friend or foe. A solid drive leaves a manageable approach to a back-to-front sloping green. Birdie is possible, but par is a proud way to end the day.
